Uni-Prop, the temporary support system, has been short-listed to win four major industry awards in 2020
Ipswich, Suffolk 24th August 2020. Uni-Prop® International Ltd. today announced that the Uni-Prop product has been short-listed to win four coveted business awards.
The first, from Construction News, is for best innovation, where the company illustrated how it developed a new trailblazing product that exemplifies innovative design and function, which also improves the construction process.
The judges were impressed with how innovation is fostered at Uni-Prop International and also noted the:
- Company commitment to non-technological innovation
- Contribution of Uni-Prop International Ltd to the global construction market
- Application of R&D findings
All of the above culminated in the ‘wow’ factor of the innovative adjustable building support that can be quickly adapted, in just 60 seconds, to deliver controlled hydraulic power. The device is widely regarded as a major development for the general building industry; the first such upgrade of steel temporary supports in over 80 years. The second and third awards are from the National Building and Construction Awards (‘NBCA’) – where Uni-Prop was also victorious in 2019. Awards categories include a Health and Safety Award as well as Innovation of the Year. Entrants had to evidence how they have improved health and safety in the workplace. Tower Cranes UK Ltd sponsors innovation of the Year 2020. Entrants had to demonstrate how the business is doing something new, different, smarter and better that makes a positive difference to the construction sector, with a brand-new product. Judges include senior staff at Kier Construction, Travis Perkins and Transport for London.
The fourth award is from the respected Hire Association of Europe and is the Hire Industry Product of the Year. The prestigious awards programme includes a diverse selection of the hire industry’s leading lights. The awards celebrate the amazing achievements of hire and supply companies across the UK’s plant, tool, equipment and event hire industry.
All events culminate in black tie presentation gala dinners in London: Construction News awards take place on 14 October at the Grosvenor House Hotel, NBCA on 13 November at the Copthorne Tara Hotel and Hire Association Europe will be a virtual event that is live streamed on 16 September from the Grosvenor House Hotel. Invented in Britain, Uni-Prop has created positive shock waves in both the construction and civil engineering sectors because of its detachable hydraulic assembly, which is supplied as a sealed unit in a bespoke HDPE case. It is the addition of this option that makes Uni-Prop so special and sets it apart from existing devices that are used on virtually every building site across the globe. Uni-Prop has the benefit of patent granted status in a number of territories including the USA, Australia and Chile to name but three.
Uni-Prop is available to hire or buy across the UK and other countries. The product has attracted much media attention and has been featured in the Daily Express, BBC Radio Essex, Tool Business & Hire magazine, TOOLKIT magazine, Professional Builder, The Concrete Jungle Blog and Health & Safety Matters. Managing Director, David Marr commented, “I am delighted that we have been recognized for a second year in only our second year of trading – for four awards! The positive brand awareness that Uni-Prop has received is a true endorsement of the value of the product to both the construction and civil engineering sectors. We are also seeing great interest from overseas markets such as Australia and the USA.”
The product has also received numerous endorsements from the construction industry and Rob Boulton of Power Construction in Dunmow commented: “We hired these Uni-Props from 727 in Dunmow and were a little dubious at the new idea when they arrived. Having used them for the first time we will NEVER use the old manual props again. They are an incredible leap forward in safe temporary support. Uni-Props are easy to use, quick to position, infinitely adjustable and far, far safer – no more twisting top plates under wobbly steel beams!”
LT Contractors in Suffolk, MD Luke Taylor said, “Uni-Props made light work of a specialist staircase restoration project. MD Ricky Ellam of 727 Tool Hire noted, “I’m delighted that I replaced my Acrow stock for Uni-Props. Since hiring out Uni-Props as traditional supports I have now seen significant and profitable orders for the hydraulic assembly”.
The product is available in three sizes, namely the Mini, Midi and Maxi models, which correlate with Acrows 0, 1 and 2. Uni-Prop is failure load tested to BS EN 1065 and can deliver up to 2000 kgs of controlled hydraulic power via the CE marked Hydraulic Assembly.
